Hundreds of attendees have already registered to help the Gay & Lesbian Victory Institute celebrate the swearing-in of a record seven openly gay, lesbian and bisexual members of Congress at a gala reception to be held January 4 in Washington, D.C.
“This will be a milestone moment for the LGBT community–a chance to meet and celebrate the men and women who will be our voices on Capitol Hill,” said Chuck Wolfe, president and CEO of the Victory Fund and Institute.
Among the special guests will be newly-sworn-in Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis, the first openly gay senator in U.S. history. Others expected to attend are:
Rep. David Cicilline, D-R.I.
Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, D-N.Y.
Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Wis.
Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo.
Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz.
Rep. Mark Takano, D-Calif.
Tickets and sponsorships for the event, which will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Jan. 4 in downtown Washington, are available here on a first-come, first-served basis.
