The Arcus Foundation, a major funder of LGBT equality initiatives, has named Kevin Jennings its next executive director. Jennings is a former presidential appointee in the Obama administration, and was the founder and first executive director of GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network.
Chuck Wolfe, president and CEO of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Institute, issued the following statement about the news:
“Kevin brings an enormous level of passion and intelligence to everything he does, so he is an excellent choice to lead one of the most important foundations supporting the work of the LGBT movement. As an educator, a non-profit leader and a presidential appointee, Kevin has faced career challenges with uncommon grace and clarity of purpose. I am proud of my friend as he takes on yet another challenge aimed squarely at helping others and making the world a better place.”
