santorumFormer Sen. Rick Santorum said today in New Hampshire that marriage was a privilege granted by government and not a right, adding that it was proper to discriminate in bestowing that privilege on citizens.

His statement is at odds not only with the Supreme Court, which has long recognized a right to marriage, but also with the apparent opinion of the audiences he’s spoken to over the past two days.  Again today he was booed after lecturing questioners on the issue.
