A solid majority of Houstonians say Annise Parker is doing a “good” or “excellent” job as mayor so far, according to a new 11 News/KUHF-Houston Public Radio poll.
Parker’s election last December made Houston the largest city in the U.S. to elect an openly gay mayor.
KHOU talked to Houston residents about the mayor’s job performance this year, with one saying he appreciated the fact that Parker is results-oriented rather than media-driven. ”Not being on the news so much, I think she’s doing a great job. She’s taking care of business,” said Manuel Carranza.
Fourteen percent of poll respondents rated Parker’s job performance as “excellent.” Forty-two percent said she was doing a “good” job. Twenty-seven percent described her performance as “fair,” and just six percent said she was doing a “poor” job.
