Anti-gay marriage bus tour a failure?
The National Organization for Marriage’s “Summer for Marriage” 23-city bus tour is almost half over, but early indications are it’s been a dismal failure.
In stop after stop, organizers have only been able to draw a handful of NOM supporters, and in many locations marriage equality advocates far outnumber them.
Today in Madison, Wisc., tour trackers counted 54 NOM folks and 466 pro-equality supporters. See pics at the Courage Campaign’s NOM Tour Tracker.
If tour organizers had been hoping to generate shock videos of the antics of pro-equality protesters, well, that may not be going so well either. So far NOM has produced just one video of one of its supporters complaining that a pro-equality group blocked her view of a podium. The horror!
Meanwhile, NOM folks are having a little trouble keeping their own supporters on message. Yesterday in Indianapolis, one held a sign suggesting murdering gay couples is a solution to the marriage equality fight.
