Talking Points Memo reports at least one Tea Party protester in the halls of the Longworth House Office Building today yelled “Barney, you faggot” at Congressman Barney Frank as was leaving the building this afternoon.  Others in the group apparently laughed at the remark.

The Hill newspaper also said at least two African-American members of Congress were subject to racial epithets as they walked from their offices to the Capitol:

Rep. Andre Carson (D-Ind.) said Saturday that healthcare protesters at the Capitol directed racial epithets at him and Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) as they walked outside. 

Carson, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus along with Lewis, told The Hill that protesters called the lawmakers the N-word.

Capitol Hill was swarmed today buy those opposed to a sweeping health insurance reform bill that will be voted on in the House Sunday.
