Robin Brand will join the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Leadership Institute as deputy executive director beginning March 1, the group announced today.
Brand is a veteran political operative and a leader in the LGBT movement, having most recently served as chief operating officer at the Gill Action Fund.  Prior to her work with Gill Action, Brand served as senior vice president and political director of the Victory Fund during a period of remarkable growth and political success for the organization.
Victory Fund President and CEO Chuck Wolfe said Brand’s return to a key leadership role comes at pivotal moment in gay politics.  “Electoral politics is an important and growing part of the fight for LGBT equality.  Robin’s deep experience and sharp judgment will fuel that growth and ensure the Victory Fund remains at the forefront of efforts to add and keep authentic LGBT voices in positions of power.  We are extremely happy to welcome her back in a new leadership role for the organization,” said Wolfe.
Brand, who has worked in politics throughout her career, said she looks forward to working with openly LGBT elected and appointed officials toward full equality for the LGBT community.  “I’m proud to be able to help lead one of the most effective LGBT organizations in the country.  As the election of Houston Mayor Annise Parker demonstrates, out officials can have a dramatic impact on efforts to change the hearts and minds of American voters.  I look forward to working with some courageous candidates, LGBT officeholders and the Victory staff to help achieve this vital mission,” Brand said.
