Obama appoints Marble to OPM press shop
The Victory Fund has learned that John Marble, the openly gay former communications director at National Stonewall Democrats, has accepted a presidential appointment as a public affairs specialist at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. OPM oversees millions of civilian workers in the federal government, and is headed by John Berry, who is also openly gay.
Marble’s former boss, Stonewall Democrats Executive Director Jon Hoadley, praised the appointment, saying, “John’s passion for public service is well-matched with the Office of Personnel Management…His skills will prove an advantage to the Administration as it moves to make the federal workforce more effective and an exciting and attractive employer to talented individuals considering civil service.”
President Obama has appointed more than 60 openly LGBT persons to positions in the executive branch, many of whom were supported by the LGBT community’s Presidential Appointments Project.
