Politico explores the growing impatience among LGBT advocates who complain President Obama has been slow to fulfill promises he made to the community during the 2008 campaign.  Responding to a chorus of requests for action on key LGBT legislative priorities, Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina told Politico:

“The president remains fully committed to advancing LGBT rights. His positions on all of these issues are well-established and well-known. His staff continues to work with Congress on a variety of LGBT issues. While we recognize that some in the community are anxious, the president’s commitment has not wavered.”

But some say Obama risks falling behind, citing rapidly changing public opinion on issues like marriage equality.  ”Politicians are finding out that their voters are moving faster than they anticipated,” pollster Celinda Lake told Politico.
