Second openly gay man named to Obama’s faith-based council
Harry Knox, director of the Religion and Faith Program at the Human Rights Campaign, has been appointed to President Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
According to a press release issued today, “The White House Office for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships will be a resource for nonprofits and community organizations, both secular and faith based, looking for ways to make a bigger impact in their communities, learn their obligations under the law, cut through red tape, and make the most of what the federal government has to offer.”
The 25 members of the Council each serve one-year terms. Previously, Fred Davie, an openly gay man who is a senior adviser at Public/Private Ventures in New York, was named to the Council.
