Maryland state Delegate Heather Mizeur, San Francisco Police Commissioner Theresa Sparks and Portland Mayor-elect Sam Adams will all appear at the 2008 Gay & Lesbian Leadership Awards honoring comedian Margaret Cho and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer.

Heather Mizeur represents Maryland’s 20th District in the House of Delegates. First elected to the legislature in 2006, she will present a Gay & Lesbian Leadership Award to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer.

In her role as president of the Police Commission, Theresa Sparks is San Francisco’s highest-ranking transgender official. She will present a Gay & Lesbian Leadership Award to comedian Margaret Cho.

Sam Adams recently won his election to become mayor of Portland, Oregon, making him the first openly gay mayor of a top 30 U.S. city. He will host the night’s events.
