Kehoe speaks out against developer’s anti-gay donation
Openly lesbian state Sen. Christine Kehoe has reacted to San Diego developer Doug Manchester’s $125,000 donation to a campaign to ban same-sex marriage and domestic partnerships in California.
“I was surprised that Doug Manchester would make such an enormous contribution to try to deny a small group of Californians their civil rights,” Kehoe told the Union Tribune.
Manchester’s donation has led to calls for a boycott of his Marriott and Hyatt hotels.
“He’s paying people to add a bigoted, discriminatory amendment to the constitution,” gay rights activist Keith Gran said. “I think that’s appalling. I think people ought to know that.”
