Following the passage of an anti-gay same-sex partner benefits bill by the Kentucky Senate, Gov. Steve Beshear has said he will veto the bill if it arrives on his desk.
The bill, which would disallow state-funded agencies or colleges from offering domestic partner benefits to its employees, died in the House Health and Welfare Committee committee last year. Gay365 reports that there is still considerable opposition to the bill in the committee.
“The only thing that drives this measure is a gay-bashing effort,” openly gay Kentucky state Senator Ernesto Scorsone recently told The Courier-Journal.
